Year 3 Blog

Autumn 2

What have Year 3 been up to this half term?

Year 3 have been doing lots of interesting learning during this half term. We have learnt about what life was like in the stone age and how different it was compared to our lives now! We have read lots of greats books like Stoneage Boy, The Creakers & The Boy Who Grew Dragons.

We have found out learning very interesting and here are some of the highlights.

Year 3 Carol Concert

We have worked every so hard on producing our carol concert. It was alot of hard work learning lines and remembering the words to 7 songs but it was worth it to see the smiles on everyone's faces who watched.

We were nervous before performing but we helped one another through the performance and delivered some amazing songs (Miss Wooten told us so).

We hope that everyone who came to watched loved it as muh as we loved perforing it for you.

Feliz Navidad! smiley

PE - Country Dancing

In our indoor PE lessons we have been learning to country dance. We loved seeing the year 6 children showing us their dance that they learnt at Tile Barn and loved dancing to the music. Group dancing makes it a real team effort - which is something that we enjoyed.

Science - learning about teeth!

We shared facts we already knew about teeth (some were true others, we discovered were false). We talked about our teeth and looked at the different types of teeth. Some of us have teeth missing or just beginning to grow, which makes it hard to eat sometimes!

Then, we looked at how drinks that we consume impact our teeth. We used egg shells to replicate teeth and left them to soak in different drinks. Whilst we don't leave drinks in our mouths for such a long time, it adds up the more that we drink them! We predicted that Coca-Cola would do the most damage. Do you agree?

This half term's reading raffle winners - congratulations!

Autumn 1

What have Year 3 been up to this half term?

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to the term and have been working incredibly hard. Some highlights have included our trip to Hillier Garden, salad making, open morning and finding out who the first 3 winners of our reading raffle are.

We hope you enjoy looking at these photos which give you a glimpse into life in Year 3.

Hillier Garden's Visit.

Thursday 13th October proved to be a beautiful autumnal day for Year 3's trip to the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens at Ampfield for a busy day of educational activities. Some of the activities we did included soil sampling, the decay game, mini-beast hunting and some drama.

Super Salads!

Our DT topic this half term has been learning about salads. We tasted a variety of different shop bought salads and rated them on appearance, taste, texture and smell. We then got creative and worked in groups to design our own group salads. Finally we got to make our salads, we made sure that we were very careful when using the knives and other kitchen equipment. The best part of the day was eating our salads! We were so full we nearly didn't have room for our lunch.

Gymnastic Competition.

This term we have been working very hard in PE to learn the routine for the intra gymnastic competition. Some key skills that we included were an arabesque, a half turn and a roll. We also performed a vault!

Reading Raffle

Congratulations to the first 3 winners of our Year 3 raffle who have each selected a book of their own choice. Well done!
