Mr Hardy and his garden train - first outing of the year!

Still image for this video
I have a garden train set! It's called G Gauge (so the trains are quite big). They run on electric just like a big version of train sets you might have at home. I normally wait until after Easter to get the engines out - so today is a trial run.
The green Southern engine is struggling a bit - which means I need to rub the surface of the tracks with a very fine sandpaper to get rid of the tarnish of the winter so the electric can be picked up better through the metal wheels of the train. The track is made of brass (so it doesn't rust) but it does get tarnished especially after all the rain of the winter.
Later in the week I'll get the other bigger train out plus the carriages and wagons to show you when I've given the track a light rubbing!
This is an American model by Bachman, but represents a tiny train of the Southern railway which used to run in North Devon. It's number 762 called Lyn.
