Pupil premium funding is allocated by the DfE for children in one of three categories: Free School Meals, Looked after Children/Children in Care (LAC/CiC), or have been adopted from care. Whilst this may be linked to under achievement, children can equally be performing at or above year group expectation and hence the funding can be used in a number of ways. Often blocks of funding are used for initiatives which benefit groups of children. Some pupils may also appear on the Special Educational Needs register, so the educational outcomes may be different and the interventions in place also may differ. Each year we review the best way forward based on the specific mix of children - in last year's Year 6 for example, 12 of the 15 pupils in receipt of PP were also on the SEN register - the previous year it was only 5 from a total of 15.
