The Journey to Stone Farm: A Stop at West Bay

The journey to Stone Farm in Bridstowe was just as much a part of the adventure as arriving at the farm itself.

We set off by coach, making our way through the beautiful countryside, with plenty of anticipation about what lay ahead. The further we travelled, the more the busy world seemed to disappear, replaced by rolling hills, winding roads and the peaceful feeling of being somewhere a little more special.

One of the highlights of the journey was our stop at West Bay. It was the perfect opportunity to stretch our legs, take in the fresh air and enjoy the stunning coastal scenery.

After spending some time at West Bay, we climbed back aboard the coach and continued our journey towards Stone Farm.

As we finally arrived at the farm in Bridstowe, there was a real sense of excitement. Stone Farm offered a complete change of pace — peaceful surroundings, open countryside and that wonderful feeling of arriving somewhere away from the everyday hustle and bustle.

The journey had given us a chance to relax, chat and enjoy the scenery, while the stop at West Bay added a little coastal adventure along the way. By the time we reached Stone Farm at 3:00, it felt like the perfect beginning to our stay.

Once we had settled into our bedrooms and made ourselves comfortable, it was time to head out and explore our new surroundings. We were given a tour of the farm, where we began to discover just what would make our stay at Stone Farm so special.

We also had the chance to meet some of our new friends for the week. There are goats, pigs, alpacas, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits — and, of course, we cannot forget Baloo, the very friendly sheepdog! There was plenty of excitement as we got to know the animals and learn more about life on the farm.

There were certainly some funny moments during our first farm jobs too! Mr Bennett’s and Ms Driver’s farm group were well and truly outsmarted by one clever goat, who managed to escape from the field just as they were feeding it. It certainly gave everyone a little extra excitement and provided plenty of entertainment!

The alpacas have also been a big hit, with lots of children falling for the infamous “kissing alpaca”! There have been plenty of smiles and laughs as everyone gets to know our new animal friends.

After completing our first set of farm jobs, we sat down to enjoy a delicious dinner. Everyone ate well, and many of us even went back for seconds. It was a lovely chance to sit together, chat about our first day and enjoy some well-earned food after all our hard work.

Our evening was then spent in the barn, where there was plenty to keep us entertained. A lot of us competed in the bale maze, with the winning time coming in at an impressive 21.6 seconds! Pretty impressive, especially when you consider all those twists and turns!

There were plenty of laughs in the barn this evening too, with games, challenges and even some very entertaining pretending involving chickens and their eggs. It has certainly been an evening full of fun, laughter and some wonderful memories.

As the evening comes to an end, everyone is packed and ready for a day on the water tomorrow. After such a busy and exciting first day, we are hoping for a full night’s sleep — although we suspect there may still be plenty of excitement about what tomorrow has in store!

A little message from the staff

We just wanted to reassure all of our families that the children are doing really well and are thoroughly enjoying their first day at Stone Farm. They have settled into their new surroundings brilliantly, embraced the farm experience and are already making lots of wonderful memories together. There has been plenty of laughter, excitement and enthusiasm throughout the day, and it has been lovely to see everyone getting stuck in and enjoying this new environment.

We hope you can relax knowing that they are happy, safe and having a fantastic time. Everyone is now packed and ready for tomorrow’s water-based adventures, and we are looking forward to another exciting day!
