Girls County Cup 3rd round
After a valiant effort and success in the previous rounds, the girls came up against a formidable team in Fair Oak Juniors. Conceding some early goals made the job difficult, however in the second half, the girls rallied scoring, hitting the post and crossbar twice! Mr Webbe and Mr Murphy would like to thank parental support on what was a cold, dark and misty December evening. We are proud of you girls-we now look forward to the Romsey league! Player of the match: Emily.
Boys through to the next round
Another home match saw our boys team progress through to the quarter finals of the County Cup. Their opponents in this round were Springhill Catholic School (from Southampton). This physical encounter challenged both our defence and attack. During the first half, we passed quickly and efficiently, resulting in scoring two early goals. However, they bounced back and by half time, the score was level. In the second half, Springhill pressurised our back line, which held firm. Some outstanding saves from our keeper, kept us firmly in the match. This gave our forwards momentum to press in search of the winner.
Girls Mountbatten League
Depleted through illness, Mr Webbe would like to thank those who stepped up to play at short notice in the Mountbatten football festival. We thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the autumn sunshine, with notable absences, the girls rallied to win 3, draw 3 and lose 3. As part of the cluster, it is always a pleasure to compete against our local schools.
Two wins in two for the girls!
Last week, the girls continued their fantastic start to the season, with their second win. We were delighted to welcome Romsey School for our first league match of the season, after school on Tuesday 11th October. The improvement from last game continued with some great examples of team play, progressing up the pitch by passing instead of a long ball. Confidence is growing and the girls are looking forward to their next game. Five goals from our captain and one from Isla concluded an enjoyable evening of football.
The last week has seen some exciting results for both North Baddesley’s upper school boys and girls football teams. Both teams represented the school brilliantly, showed great team spirit and sportsmanship throughout both fixtures. We are delighted to say, that both teams have progressed through into the next round of the County Cup.
In the first round of the County Cup, the girls took part in a hard fought 5-2 victory against Ballard school. After going down a goal early, they remained composed and regrouped to score 4 consecutive goals. They worked extremely hard, played well together and put into practice the skills learnt during training. We were delighted to see the girls improve over the course of the game and grow in confidence. We can’t wait for the next round! Goals from our captain, Isla and Kiya.
The boys complimented this great start by the girls, with a 10-5 victory over Cliddesden primary, a Basingstoke based school. A major positive from this was the wide variety of goal contributions across the team. From defence to attack, the boys started positively, moving the ball between the lines quickly and counter attacking efficiently; resulting in a brilliant team performance! Goals from both Harrys, James, Yousof, Dougie and Jackson.
